Project Profile: Hush, Leamington Spa
In a quiet corner of Warwickshire, a new hidden treasure has opened its doors. Hush, a private members’ club nestled in a basement by the River Avon, exudes the glamour and intrigue of a bygone era. With interiors crafted by Black Ivy Design, the venue merges the decadence of the Roaring Twenties with the understated sophistication of modern luxury.
The 270-square-metre venue at 2 The Terrace, Royal Leamington Spa, was completed in 2025 by a Black Ivy Design team of Leanne Armstrong, Akhil Das and Pawel Siewiera, with photography by Stevie Campbell. From the moment guests descend into the low-lit, velvet-lined space, they are transported to an era of jazz-filled nights and clandestine gatherings.
“The lighting became the backbone of the mood,” explains Leanne Armstrong. “We wanted guests to feel cocooned, like they’ve stepped into another world.” A layered scheme of uplights, hidden LED strips, sconces and statement pendants — complemented by fluted glass fixtures — wraps the room in a warm white, almost cinematic glow.
Beyond the lighting, texture leads the design: velvet walls and furnishings, deep reds and navy blues, and art deco-inspired patterns woven from the upholstery to the furniture detailing. Since its soft opening, Hush has quickly become a talking point for locals and visitors alike.
